Alli and Bernie being of similar vintage, discussed what
books they re called as children and their favorites as well as having a laugh
at how children tend to want the same story read again and again. Let’s hope
Alli’s book ends up being an all-time favorite read too! You never know!
Alli chatted about her passion for writing and how she
would one day love to be able to retire to France and write full
time, for pleasure, if nothing else.
The Covid pandemic allowed Alli to indulge in more
writing and she was able to complete her Psychological thriller, A Sorry
Revenge. Bernie thought it was an unusual mix to be writing children’s picture
story books and psychological thrillers and Alli concurred. However, as she
said, she has an active imagination and a lot of child in her!
There are many elements to Alli’s book. It’s not just a
story about Beatrice The Bumble bee who thinks it might be more exciting to be
something else other than a bee.
It teaches children about various be bee and bea sounds
and how they can all sound the same but be spelled differently. This assists
with reading development.
The book is full of idioms too, like The grass isn’t
always greener and Mind your own bees wax, so this encourages children to
question the meaning of such expressions.
The book carries a happy message about
being happy in one’s own skin and being loved for who, or what you
are.
There’s some humor for adults too and a nod to
Shakespeare…To be or not to be…a bee.
And whilst the book is aimed for the 5 to 7 reading age,
it will entertain younger children too, as there is repetition of words and
bright colourful illustrations, as well as an appealing story line.
Please do read the book and if you enjoy it,
leave a review.
